  • Guide and support the organization's development team, grant's team, board, and campaign committee (when a capital campaign is underway)

  • Toward the end of the silent phase, create plans for the grassroots, public campaign

  • Teach and mentor development staff and volunteers

  • Provide strategic scripting for donor dialogues

  • Make donor visits with staff and board members when advantageous to do so

  • Provide support and training for the organization's annual giving efforts

  • Create measurements for tracking progress and promoting accountability among staff and volunteers

  • Communicate compelling messages to donors and the community, including a well-defined return on investment
